We traveled from Sydney which took us around 80 minutes to reach Gold Coast by flight. The city is well connected with public transport. We purchased a go card at the airport and used the bus service to reach our hotel. You may also opt to take a car rental or hire a cab. We stayed at the Mantra hotel in Surfers Paradise which makes Surfers Paradise our first stop.
Surfers Paradise is a complete destination in itself; a glittering resort, shopping and entertainment strip. The place is lit up with energy at night.
The Surfers Paradise Beach is the most popular Beach among tourists. Just to the south of Surfers Paradise is Broadbeach where the pace begins to slow. The further you move down the coast the more relaxed the vibe.
Follow the shoreline South to the Gold Coast most southern beachside neighborhood, Coolangatta. Just a 5-minute drive from Gold Coast International Airport, Coolangatta Beach is best suited for couples, families and surfers. You can also head out to explore the Snapper Rocks. The southern points at Snapper Rocks are generally considered the best spots for surfing on and around Gold Coast. Sky Point located on the top of the iconic Q1 building, the tallest residential tower in Australia takes you to the highest point above the Gold Coast and offers spectacular 360-degree views from the observation deck at level 77.
Those seeking a little more adventure can opt for the skyPoint climb, where thrill-seekers climb upon a 270 meter high platform perched above the city.
Gold Coast is considered to be the theme-park Wonderland. Tickets are sold individually or in combination so you can select as per your interest. Spend the day riding the waves and waterslides at Wet ‘n’ Wild. Just up the road, cool off and ride the tubes at Dreamworld’s White Water World.
Dreamworld is Australia’s largest theme park. It features over 40 rides for all ages and themed lands like Tiger Island. Experience Hollywood on Gold Coast at Warner Brothers Movie World. Strap yourself in and take off on some of the best roller-coasters Downunder. Spend time with your favorite cartoon characters.
Then buckle up for the Hollywood Stunt Driver Show. At Sea World celebrate the spirit of ocean with some of the Seas most endearing creatures and a few of the scary ones. Enjoy the various shows along with the thrilling rides. If you are feeling the need to settle the nerves after all those theme parks, head to the hills and explore the nature. Just a 30 minute drive inland and perched high on the rim of an ancient volcano, is Mount Tamborine.
A little further south, is Springbrook a World Heritage listed national park filled with ancient forests, secret places and waterfalls that has been flowing since the dawn of time. If you’re short of time you can visit the Burleigh Head National Park which is between Surfers Paradise and Coolangatta. Whether you are keen to see exotic animals native Australian birds or enjoy animal encounters, Currumbin Wildlife National Park is the perfect place to spend with family and kids. Gold Coast is packed with activities for all. Activities like Skydive, Jet boat ride, Jet ski safaries, sightseeing cruise, kayaking and many more will keep you happy.
